Darke County Senior Scribe
Spring brings
us the Easter Bunny and God’s Grace
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s Easter. Wilson offers two poems, one in which the Easter
Bunny puts the hens in their place, the other in which Christ leads the
way to God’s Grace.
Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

BASKET CASE
The hens complained to the bunny,
“We’re mad for we find it funny—
You sit smugly on your keister
Waiting ‘til it’s time for Easter.
We labor hard to lay each egg;
You whisk them off and then bootleg.
Lose us—you’ve no inventory.
Why should you get all the glory?”
The rabbit thought, smirked as he replied,
“You’ll get credit when you lay eggs dyed!”

JOURNEY OF FAITH
Christ answered the call,
Bought tickets for all.
Pack up your suitcase,
Get ready to leave.
Off to the blest place
If you’ll just believe.
Your journey’s begun;
It started today.
Your Savior, God’s Son,
Is leading the way.
As you travel the road
Remember His grace,
For He lightens life’s load
When His love you embrace.
Forgiveness for all,
You’ve answered God’s call.
