Darke County Senior Scribe
St. Patricks
Day Limericks
By Lois Wilson
Once
again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the season
with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time it’s St. Patricks Day. Wilson offers six limericks in honor
of this annual event. Enjoy the five-liners and don’t forget to ‘wear
the green’ on March 17.
Wilson's completed set - five volumes - of published poetry is now
available and is offered as a fundraiser for the Senior Scribes
Scholarship Fund. Enjoy great poetry and help a local youngster attend
college. For additional information, contact

THREE-IN-ONE GOAL
The Gospel as set forth by Saint Patrick,
At the time was not understood that quick.
So he used the lowly triform shamrock
To teach the Trinity to heedful flock.
Thus winning souls by his inspired hat trick.

CONDITIONAL
I know a dear lady from Greenville.
You clearly could tell she had been ill.
I asked, “Have you seen a physician?”
She paused then replied this decision:
“No, but when I get better, I will!”

DOCTOR OF FILLOSOPHY
There was a young man named Mel Cleaver
Who plied the good trade of cloth weaver.
He bragged with great breeze
Of his three degrees,
But his three degrees were just
fever!

HE SAID A MOUTHFUL
Heath met an old man walking home
Who had a wry face like a gnome.
“I’ll bet,” proffered Heath,
“That you have no teeth.”
“I do,” said the man, “in my comb!”

MILKING TV
The cow and calf earned dollars few.
The farmer pondered what to do:
“I think I know the way to go,
A bovine reality show,
And I’ll call it ‘Money Moo Moo!’”

ATTACHMENT
The tall gal and short guy were endearing
As they danced their deft steps--all were cheering.
When they whirled cheek-to-cheek,
The girl cried, shriek-to-shriek
'Cause his glasses got caught in her earring.
