DEGREES OF DRYNESS
In the senior population,
People value education.
We cherish celebration
And attend each graduation
For every generation.
We've heard slants on salutation
And dull stabs at grand oration.
Oh we stayed through the duration—
But we prayed for termination.

COMMENCEMENT
He had earned his degree;
He had done what he should,
It was easy to see
That his life was not good.
Asking, “What did I get?”
He would stifle a sob.
“There’s a huge college debt,
But I still have no job.”
He thought outside the box;
Got a job by this whim.
From the School of Hard Knocks—
Graduation for him!

FULFILLMENT
Try to have a dream in your heart
And consider it as a start.
Dismiss any thoughts of failing;
Keep your goal on its unveiling.
Nurture the dream, and it will flower;
Help it grow to achievement hour.
And when your dream’s success is won,
Fill your heart with another one.
