Of Doubt and
Debt
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!! I think I've heard all sides of this conundrum...the
Presidential Election for 2017. "Trump is President-Elect and the price
of gas is down to $1.99 (Really. He's not in office yet!). Donald Trump
said he'd take $1.00 - one dollar a year - for being President. (He
said nothing about his retirement salary per year.). I've heard people
say our economy will fall if Trump deports every illegal in this
country. 'Who's going to work the jobs they work?" is a question I hear
frequently. Who's going to work for the wages they do when they start a
job? 'Many of the illegals - who use a false id - pay taxes using that
id. And they do not file an income tax return.' They do not want to
rock the boat or raise eyebrows."
"Will Trump send Federal Agents door-to-door to search for 'illegals?'
Will the Feds want to see receipts for our possessions? What if the
illegals are deported, our country falls, and the people who have
debt....credit cards, payday loans, home loans, etc.. are told the
money is due now...or in a month...six months, etc?"
"What if this all causes a depression and I have a vehicle that only
gets 10 mpg...what will I do? Can my home be taken for back taxes?
Would they take it?"
"The show 'The Simpsons' - predicted that Donald Trump would be
elected President. In that episode the USA suffered horribly under
Trump's presidency. All of the Simpson's other predictions came true in
real life. What are we going to do then?"
"If the Government goes door-to-door to find 'illegals' - will they
take them then? Will we get to say good-bye to them? What about the
children of the illegals? If a parent get deported back to Mexico, can
the parent sue for custody of the child - who is a US citizen by birth?
Would the illegal parent have to pay child support? Could the illegal
parent petition the courts and get the child for a summer vacation?
Does the child have any legal rights before the age of 18? If a parent
is deported - can that parent come back to the USA to visit that child?
What about the parents of the deported parent - the grandparents?" And
the rest of the comments I've heard are all variations of the above
comments.
These are all valid questions - I believe. Some of the questions will
have no clear-cut answers. And some might be clear-cut.Take the
question of an illegal parent returning to the US to see the child: If
Trump had them deported - my guess is that no, the illegal parent would
not be granted the right to see the kid on US soil, during his term as
President. But, what the next President would do remains to be seen.
As far as the debt: If you're really worried about it - take the "bite"
now. Pay off as much of the debt as you can. Stop the magazines,
unsubscribe to cable tv, - stop anything that is not a true necessity.
Use that money to get rid of the debt. This move can only improve your
situation....hard times or not.
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
