Comes the Dawn
By Mona Lease

Hi, all!!  The following is a collection of prose, writings, and thoughts. Enjoy!!

Life is Too Short: Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, and let go of what you can't change. Love deeply and forgive quickly. Take chances. Give everything and have no regrets. Life is too short to be unhappy. You have to take the good with the bad. Smile when you are sad. Love what you got and always remember what you had. Always forgive but never forget. Learn from your mistakes but never regret. People change and things go wrong. But always remember: Life goes on. - Life Learned Feelings.

Walking Through the Valley: You may be walking through the valley of doubts, of sorrows, of tribulations, or even the shadow of death. But if Jesus, the Christ, is your Friend, your Savior, your Refuge, and your God - you have nothing to fear. For Jesus will walk with you through the valley. His hand will direct you, His staff will protect you. His spirit will comfort you. Your victory is just the other side of the valley. Then fear not and let Jesus walk you through. - Ken Pikher, Jr.

The Empty Chair Prayer: The pies are in the freezer, the turkey's on the list. But this Thanksgiving (any time really) oh, how a loved one will be missed! Lord Jesus, please hear our prayer, for those gathered around a table that has an empty chair. Oh Lord, comfort their hearts - we know that you are able. And let them know that this year, there's another chair at Heaven's table. - Erica Parkerson

You Learn: After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul. And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning. And company doesn't mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises. And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open; with the grace of a woman not the grief of a child. And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans. And future's have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So you plant your own garden and you decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn you really can endure...that you really are strong...that you really do have worth. With every good-bye you learn. (I cut this from an Ann Landers column when I was 12 or so. I know it as "Comes the Dawn.")

I hope you all had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I'm sorry the wishes are late. There is so much happening, I think I might be able to write a column a day. I tried to make this a "one-size-fits-all" column. This is the time of year...and up to Valentine's Day...when more people contemplate and/or commit suicide. If this column does nothing else: death is forever. The rest of the holidays. etc are temporary. If you commit suicide over another person...that person will still laugh (not about you), celebrate holidays, enjoy a sunset, go to ballgames, etc.

Christmas Eve Crockpot Hot Chocolate: 1.5 cups of heavy cream/1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)/2 cups of milk chocolate chips/6 cups of milk/1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Combine ingredients in a crockpot on low. Stir very frequently on low until ingredients are blended and creamy. I would use a whisk.  It will take a while. Keep crock pot on low...the cream and milk will scald. (Scalding will not hurt the hot chocolate...just makes it look ugly with a film.)

Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
