By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
This time Wilson honors our veterans. “This day we honor those who
served,” she says. “We laud the brave who kept us free.” Take a few
moments to give veterans their due.

VETERANS DAY: NOVEMBER 11th
This day we honor those who served,
Their recognition well-deserved.
In valued branch, be it Army,
Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Navy,
Each one answered their country’s call
Giving of self to fight for all.
Some enlisted; some were draftees;
They served at home and overseas.
Valiant veterans tempered by strife;
Some gave the ultimate—their life
Protecting land and liberty,
And from their courage, victory.
We laud the brave who kept us free,
Hold each in our hearts and history.
