Homeward??
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!! OK - so I thought about this column for days. Do I print it?
Do I dare? Have I considered all of the implications? Is it more than a
"calculated risk?" I believe it's worth the risk. I rarely use this
column for situations such as this - but the implications are
far-reaching.
A young woman I know graduated from high-school a couple of years ago,
now. It did not come easy to her - but, she did it!! It was a mountain
to her - and she climbed it all the way to the top.
I recently heard she is missing - just gone. She is sociable. She is
polite. She is funny. She is child-like (with the connotations of child
innocence) - always believing the best of everyone. No one would lie to
her - or cheat her. Childish is the thoughts and/or actions of stomping
one's foot and insisting on one's own way - which is not Lynn.
She did not take her cell phone with her - or any extra clothes. My
reason for writing this is: "How many of us have been "blind-sided" by
a promise - a declaration of love - a promise of a way out of what we
perceive to be a "bad situation?"
I recently witnessed some people pray for a woman whose cat had gotten
outside and was "just gone." No trace of the cat dead or alive for a
week. I received a call at the end of the week saying the cat had
returned home...a pound or so lighter - but generally healthy.
I started wondering about this "God" about whom I've heard so many
conflicting stories. Would this God answer a prayer for a cat? I don't
know. But, if He answered the prayers for the cat - how much more would
He answer a prayer for Lynn? I don't know this either. I just feel like
maybe we should try and preserve this innocence. I rarely see innocence
in anyone over the age of 10.
I've not seen this girl - Lynn - in a couple of years. I remember her
timid behavior around strangers - with the desire to be happy and
please. So for those of you who pray - feel free to do so. Lynn would
thank you. For those of you who believe in "soul-power" - feel free to
radiate that. Lynn would thank you for that, too. Maybe together we can
pray her back home. Maybe together we can "soul-power" her back home.
Thanks, all - for reading this column to this point.
And Lynn - if you read this - or if someone reads this and tells you
about this - email my editor. I will get to you - wherever you are.
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!! MONA
