Darke County Senior Scribe
Political
correctness gone awry
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
In this case, she hits on the season: the political season. Once again
it’s politics… well, at least political “correctness” type politics.
Her message? Be careful what you say or do. It might be taken the wrong
way.
Wilson's completed set of books has a new edition – now six volumes –
of published poetry. Volume 1 is out of print and no longer available,
however Volumes 2-6 are available and are offered as a fundraiser for
Empowering Darke County Youth. Enjoy great poetry and help a child
achieve his or her educational goals. For additional information,

POLITICAL
CORRECTNESS GONE AWRY
It surely seems to me
That it could come to be
Not one thing is P.C.
For almost every day
No matter what I say,
It might offend some way.
We’re charged to censor each
Word and form of speech
Lest we create a breach,
Fearing a feisty cut
From some reacting nut,
I kept my own mouth shut.
But then I thought it through,
It matters what we do,
And we should share our view.
All freedoms we hold fast
And virtues must outlast—
Thus we learn from the past.

TWO CENTS’ WORTH
When we weigh in
To express a view,
We should stay in
And explain it too.
