Mind, Body, Soul
Dickens Says
By Mona Lease
Greeting, Gals!! "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
It was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the
epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of
Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was
the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing
before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going
direct the other way."
I thought this appropriate. Charles Dickens wrote these words, during
the French Revolution, in his novel, "A Tale of Two Cities." Those
cities were London, England and Paris, France.
It was a time of political change....new promises...new hope. I kind of
believe this all had to do with how prepared you were. Promises are
always made. Some are kept....some are not kept.
This novel was written in 1859. To date...it is some 158 years old. I
stand amazed that little has changed.
As we head into 2018...we'll keep track of our progress...our personal
goals and dreams. I see a change coming...I've probably said this
previously. Tanning salons have fallen by the wayside. I don't see
people "laying out in the sun" like I used to when I was young.
I don't think this has much to do with "whether sunbathing is healthy."
I don't see people using the spray-on tanners either.
I think this has to do with the fact that it's more "chasing and
maintain the illusion." I think that we...as women - are saying we
don't want "The American Dream." Some of us don't want to own our
own home...we don't want to deal with the responsibility. And that's
ok...that's who they/we are.
I think some are cut out to be homeowners...they don't need to reach
for the aspirin or Rolaids to deal with it. Some of us are cut out to
be Drs and Lawyers....some are not. And that's fine. It's a matter of
knowing who you are.
Keep exercising, Keep stretching and reaching for your goals. As you
read this...you are one day closer to realizing what you dreamed.
Enjoyed the following!!
"Practice the Pause. When in doubt, Pause. When angry, practice the
Pause. When tired, practice the Pause. When stressed, practice the
Pause. And when you pause, pray." - TOBYMAC#SPEAKLIFE
10 Health Benefits of Music: (1)It Improves Mood: Helps regulate
emotions. (2)Reduces Stress: Music that is slow, low pitch and no
lyrics, reduces stress and anxiety in healthy people. Those in medical
procedures benefit greatly from this. (3)Lessens Anxiety: Music
combined with standard care (cancer patients) gave patients less
anxiety than those with just the standard care. (4)Improves Exercise:

to increase overall performance. (5)Improves Memory: Repetative rhythm
and melody help the brain form patterns to enhance memory. Stroke

confusion. (6)Eases Pain: Patients recovering from surgery - who
listened to music before, during, or after their surgery - had less
pain and more overall satisfaction. (7)Provides Comfort: Those who have
a serious illness or are in end-of-life care demonstrated enhanced

"Three Wise Women would have asked for directions...arrived on
time...helped deliver the baby...cleaned the stable...made a
casserole...and there would be Peace On Earth." - Peace Love, and
Everything Else
"Giggles, Secrets, Sometimes Tears, Sisters and Friends Through the
Years." - Peace, Love, and Everything Else
Read: "A Tale of Two Cities." I always wonder if people had
been more prepared...if it would have made a difference in their daily
lives. Seriously...the "rich" got their money either from those before
them...who did not spend it...or those who did not get an
"inheritance" saved their money. There's no other....it there?
"Sometimes all you need is for someone to just be there, even if they
can't solve your problems. Just knowing there is someone who cares can
make all the difference." - sun.gazing.com
