For Your
Information
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!! Hurricane Harvey...Hurricane Irma...Hurricane
Jose...Hurricane Katia....Tropical Storm...tide heights...death
counts...no electricity...no running water...Houston,
Texas...Louisiana...Miami, Florida...the Keys...Puerto
Rico...Cuba...the East Coast...the Caribbean...northern Ohio...the list
seems endless.
A friend of mine - from Darke County - is with the Red Cross. She took
specialized training a scant six months ago to be able to go anywhere
in the USA to lend aid. She is in Florida as I pen this. Her last
report was that they were all (a combined Red Cross crew of seven)
headed to Naples, Florida. Naples is on the west coast...just about to
the bottom of the Florida peninsula. It sets just about directly across
from Fort Lauderdale...which is on the east coast of Florida.
Much of Florida is without electricity or running water. Many of our
local television stations are covering these hurricanes...and possible
tornados from the hurricanes I personally saw Florida's
governor...Rick Scott...say on tv...that he speaks almost daily with
President Trump. Scott reports that President Trump said he will give
Florida whatever they need.
Admittedly...some things that have happened don't make much sense. An
airline company from Florida reportedly "parked" their planes at the
Dayton Airport for "safe-keeping." Then I heard that our US Air
Force flew planes down to Florida (Keys??) to evacuate those who had no
where else to go. (I can't substantiate this.). However -
www.military.com reports that our Air Force flew four C-17 Globemaster
111 airplanes (carrying a total of 300 Drs) to Florida.
The point of this column is this: Don't keep sitting in front of the
tv/computer/radio and listening to all of this for hours on end. I know
a girl who told me she was up for two days smoking cigarettes, drinking
coffee "to keep prepared." She has a smartphone - programmable like a
computer. She has it set to give her alerts when any of these
hurricanes move...how fast they move...where they are headed...when
they might arrive at their destination....possible death tolls...when
you should have left your area...when the last possible time to safely
leave your area would be, etc. She can get all of this information and
still chat on the phone!!
She told me there was a video posted on Facebook showing a woman
reporter standing outside telling what people should and should not do.
The wind is blowing really hard and suddenly a stop sign (flat side)
hits her on the side of the face and she is gone from the screen...end
of video. The woman who told me this believes this is a true story.
I watched this video. At the top of the frame there is information
telling what the video contains. It said "Video Shop." This means that
the video is not real...it is made up...it is a spoof. No television
station would put a crew member in danger. If someone were to be
seriously harmed or killed that way...there would be a lawsuit that F
Lee Baily would love to add to his credit (if he is still alive).
Also beware of people calling you for money to send to Florida....any
emails that want money or other personal information...any
letters/cards, etc you receive through the US Postal Service that
want money or personal information. I spoke with the Darke County
Sheriff's Department. No one from their office will call you/come to
your home wanting money/personal information to send to Florida or
anywhere else. I spoke with the Greenville Police Department. No one
from their office will call you/come to your home wanting money or
other personal information to send to Florida or anywhere else. I spoke
with the Darke County Chapter of the American Red Cross. No one from
their office will call you/come to your home wanting money or personal
information to send to Florida or anywhere else. You may call the Red
cross at 937-548-1002. You may go to their office to make a monetary
donation or see how else you might be able to help.
Rick Scott - Florida's Governor - said: "If you want to help us
(Florida)...pray." For those of you who pray...pray. For those of
you who believe in "soul power"...now would be a good time to give
some. For those of you who believe in "good vibrations"...send a few.
"Synergy" is defined as: "The interaction or cooperation of two or more
organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect
greater than the sum of their separate effects."
Florida, Louisiana, Texas, the East Coast, Ohio, and others: From all
of us in Darke County and all who read/hear this column...we send you
our synergy!!
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!!! MONA
