Darke County Senior Scribe
For those
experiencing loss
By Lois Wilson
Once again Senior Scribe Poet Laureate Lois Wilson is on top of the
season with her insightful look at the important events of the day.
There has been heartbreak and tragedy, first in Texas, then in Florida.
“Lately it seems “loss” has been a prevalent occurrence,” she says.
“There’s been loss of loved ones, property, lifestyle, jobs, etc. May
these verses help you move from “grief” to “grow”.”
Wilson's completed set of books has a new edition – now six volumes –
of published poetry. Volume 1 is out of print and no longer available,
however Volumes 2-6 are available and are offered as a fundraiser for
Empowering Darke County Youth. Enjoy great poetry and help a child
achieve his or her educational goals. For additional information,

CONSOLATION
No sleeping head
Upon the bed—
Where he would eat,
An empty seat.
He is not there
In favorite chair;
And through the door,
He’ll come no more.
But every day
The memories stay.
In them I see
He’s here with me.

THE NEW CHAPTER
The loss of a loved one is a shock;
Denial, doubts, emotions unlock.
Trying to cope, you search for relief.
Your world changes; there are fears and grief.
You wake, weep in moments of sorrow.
The past is set, but claim tomorrow.
Know your life’s an unfinished story.
Trust and go forth seeking God’s glory.
With faith and prayer, you’ll greet each stage
Thanking God’s grace as you live each page.

JOY TO TRUST
Share this wish
with each soul
adrift.
Shed anguish—
joy’s the goal,
God’s gift.
Through joy, one
learns there’s hope
ahead.
Despair done,
one can cope
instead.
Joy, the muse,
extends trust—
receive.
Strengths suffuse
when you just
believe.

TOGETHER
God is with me;
I am thankful.
His grace I see;
I am trustful.
In healing hands,
I learn His love.
As it expands,
Peace from above.
No longer scared,
My life’s repaired.
All problems shared;
My soul’s prepared.
This day, forever—
His way, together.
