Hi, all!! Warm weather, cold weather, snow, sun here and sun
gone...Whew!! With that in mind, I thought we'd take a tour of some
cities. Got your seatbelts on and buckled?!!
Best Cities to Retire In
1)Venice, Florida: It was developed in 1925 by the Brotherhood of
Locomotive Engineers as a planned retirement community. Lots of sand
and sun!!
2)Tucson, Arizona: Having sunshine 300 days of the year, Tucson has a
beautiful southwest feel with it's scenery.
3)Charleston, South Carolina: This "Holy City" is one of the most
beautiful in the US with it's old-world charm.
4)Las Cruces, New Mexico: It's low cost living and active cultural life
helped make this the "best place to retire."
5)Savannah, Georgia: With a rich cultural history, it is a popular
tourist destination as well as popular with the retirees.
6)St. Petersburg, Florida: Thanks to it's winter warmth, great beaches,
and ideal location on the peninsula; St. Pete has beckoned retirees
since the 1920s.
7)Chattanooga, Tennessee: The critical war "Battle of Chattanooga" was
fought here. It is an affordable retirement option.
8)Naples, Florida: Part of the gold coast of southwest Florida,
downtown Naples is workable, sophisticated, and charming.
9)Austin, Texas: Home to the University of Texas; Austin has an array
of cultural activities.
10)Fort Myers, Florida: Setting on the bank of the Caloosa-hatahoochie
River, it's roots go back to 1886. It is home to the Thomas Edison
Museum.
11)Athens, Georgia: Being a highly successful university town, and
popular with retirees, the University of Georgia helped to create an
artistic, musical, and intellectual scene.
12)Summerville, South Caroline: "The Flower Town in the Pines."
Tourists flock here to the restaurants and unusual shops.
13)Port Charlotte, Florida: Due to it's warmth in the winter and low
home prices/rents, it attracts snow birds and retirees.
14)St. George, Utah: Spectacular red rock bluffs overlook the town. It
sports a mild climate in the winter and great recreational
opportunities.
15)Palm Springs, California: From the valley in which this town sets,
you can see snow in the mountains. Downtown Palm Springs sports a
statue of former Palm Springs Mayor - Sonny Bono.
16)Las Vegas, California: Many retirees choose Las Vegas for the active
adult communities, which have helped it become one of the fastest
growing US cities.
17)San Antonio, Texas: This city is famous for the Alamo and Paseo del
Rio.
18)Colorado Springs, Colorado: A spectacular array of scenery, lots of
sunshine, and conservative values make this a popular retirement
community.
19)Bend, Oregon: Scenic beauty, skiing mountains, golf and fishing have
put Bend on the lists for "best retirement communities."
20)Knoxville, Tennessee: A vibrant college town with big time sports
and other cultural events do not keep retirees from the natural beauty.
21)Henderson, Nevada: It is one of America's fastest growing cities
sporting outstanding recreational opportunities.
22)Boise, Idaho: "The Coty of Trees" is modern, prosperous, and
livable. It offers recreational activities, shopping, a low crime rate,
