Greetings, Gals!! Since we're starting a new year - it's always a good
time to think about what to bring with us into 2018 and what should
remain in 2017.
Whatever we leave behind serves to remind us of where we've been...what
we've already conquered...what remains to be done.
Sometimes thoughts will look like new thoughts. Upon examination - it's
a "new twist" on an old thought. And I find - I've already dealt with
that thought or idea. I do not know from where these "new ideas" come.
Maybe something we see or hear sparks a memory and that starts the "new
thinking."
Keep up the back stretches and the "Dead Man" relaxation pose. Consider
the following. Remember that no one can possibly incorporate everything
into their lives. Choose one or two that seem to "jump out" at you or
that "look interesting" and build from there.

1) They Have A Growth Mindset: Our core attitude falls into either a
"fixed mindset" or a "growth mindset."
2)They Make An Effort To Be Happy: No one wakes up feeling happy every
day. Happy people constantly evaluate their moods and make decisions
with happiness in mind.
3)They Help Others: Helping others gives you a surge of oxytocin,
serotonin, and dopamine...which are all hormonal creators of good
feelings. (Interesting to me is that when a woman goes into labor, her
body releases oxytocin. If they "induce" labor...they give Pitocin,,,a
synthetic hormone.)
4)They Have Deep Conversations: Happy people avoid gossip, small talk,
and judging others. They interact on a deeper level which builds
emotional connections.
5)They Get Enough Sleep: When you sleep - it is believed that your
brain recharges itself and removes toxic proteins.
6)They Stay Positive: Bad things happen to everyone. Instead of
focusing on "could haves" and "should haves" - they focus on and
reflect on...that for which you are grateful.
7)They Surround Themselves With The Right People: If a person were
smoking...and you did not smoke...you would move "out of range of
contact" with the smoke. It is the same with negative people.
8)They Spend Money On Other People: Research shows that this makes you
happier than when you spend it on yourself...especially when you go out
of your way to get them something you know they will like.
9)They Exercise: Getting your body moving...for as little as 10
minutes...releases GABA - a neurotransmitter that makes your brain feel
soothed and keeps you in control of your impulses.
10)They Slow Down To Appreciate Life's Little Pleasures: By nature - we
fall into routines. But, in doing so...we can fail to appreciate the
little things in life. Savor the taste of your food, revel in an
amazing conversation - take a deep breath of outside, fresh air.
