Thanks To All!!
By Mona Lease
Hi, all!!! This is the time of year that I set aside to reflect a
little and say "thanks." November 11 - tomorrow...is Veteran's Day.
The following is by Simran Khurana - April 17, 2018.
"It takes courage for a soldier to risk life and limb for his country.
The least we civilians can do is honor these heroes. That is the basis
of Veteran's Day celebrations - to honor these great men and women with
words of appreciation. The edifice of our society stands on the
martyrdom of these selfless souls. The following reminds the younger
generation of their duty towards their country and inspires them to
uphold the tradition of liberty, fraternity, and equality."
Sun Tzu: "Regard your soldiers as your children and they will follow
you into the deepest valleys. Look on them as your own beloved sons, an
they will stand by you even unto death!"
Allan Keller: "The only "war" is the one you fought in. Every veteran
knows that."
Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit: "The more we sweat in peace, the less we bleed
in war."
Publius Cornelius Tacitus: "In valor there is hope."
James Baker: "If you're not gonna pull the trigger, don't point the
gun."
Abraham Lincoln: "Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution.
That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties."
Francois de la Rouchfoucauld: "Perfect valor is to behave without
witnesses as one would act were all the world watching."
Michel de Montaigne: "Valor is stability, not of legs and arms, but of
courage and the soul."
Oliver Wendell Holmes: "Lord, bid war's trumpet cease. Fold the whole
world in peace."
Elmer Davis: "This nation will remain the land of the free only so long
as it is the home of the brave."
Thomas Dunn English: "But the freedom that they fought for, and the
country grand they wrought for, is their monument to-day and for aye."
Andrew Bernstein: "The hero is the man dedicated to the creation and/or
defense of reality-conforming, life-promoting values."
John Fitzgerald Kennedy: "As we express out gratitude, we must never
forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live
by them."
Sidney Sheldon: "My heroes are those who risk their lives every day to
protect our world and make it a better place - police, firefighters and
members of our armed forces."
Ronald Reagan: "History teaches that war begins when governments
believe the price of aggression is cheap."
Steve Buyer: "America's veterans embody ideals upon which America was
founded more than 229 years ago."
Gary Hart: "I think there is one higher office than president and I
would call that - patriot."
And from me: "Thanks to all of our currently serving allied personnel.
Thanks to our retired allied personnel. Thanks to the families of those
who made the ultimate sacrifice in our allied personnel. You all have
kept me free to write these columns. Thanks to you faithful readers out
there. You give me ideas and hope that this humble little column will
continue to give you a place to gain knowledge or share a laugh. I
couldn't do any of this without you. High five to you all!!
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care of the
furry and feathered ones out there. Be safe and healthy. See ya next
time. Ever Toodles!!! MONA
