Mind, Body, Soul
Do-Huh?!!
By Mona Lease
Greetings, Gals!! In parts of the south - and southern Kentucky that I
personally know - there's a saying. When something is so incredibly
mind-boggling...so unbelievable - they say, "Do-Huh?" It's a cross
between "do what or say what" and "huh?" Keep reaching - Keep
stretching. We've made it this far!!
Oregon District
May 1815, Daniel Cooper, proprietor of Dayton (Ohio), laid out the original outlots to what would become Oregon.
On July 8, 1829 - the first Oregon plot was recorded for 27 building
lots bounded by East Fifth, Jackson, and sides of East Sixth Street.
These 27 building lots sold for $2,200 - a very high price.
January 1829, the eagerly awaited Miami Canal opened and industrial
development began along it's banks. Oregon was appropriated by Germans
to a large extent. They arrived by canal boat.
The Tecumseh Street plat of 1859 is of special interest and is home to the earliest houses.
Brown Street - the natural entrance to the District was, until the
construction of Route 35, one of the main thoroughfares of the city.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Oregon is the wide diversity of architectural styles and life styles in such a small area.
During the Great Flood of 1913, Oregon was covered by 10 feet of water. After this, many residents moved out to higher ground.
In 1972, after rebuilding from the flood, the area was named the Oregon
Historical District. It was put on the National Register of Historic
Places in 1974.
The District today consists of 12 city blocks, bounded on the north by
Fifth Street, on the east by Wayne Avenue, on the south by Route 35
Expressway, and on the west by Patterson Boulevard...once the sight of
part of the Miami-Erie Canal. - Oregon District, Our History

I was looking at a "Time For Me" magazine. It's a magazine for women -
clothing, shoes, handbags, perfumes and such. I saw a pair of retro
leather clogs with the wooden platform sole and square heel. I'm going
to order a pair. Then I see a yellow triangle with an exclamation point
in it after the product description. Hmm.
I read the following: Cancer and Reproductive Harm. www.P65Warnings.ca.gov
I look this up on their listed website. This is a "Proposition 65" (P65
Warnings) site containing every cancer-causing chemical. It lists
chemicals in alcohol that cause cancer. It lists products and places
that cause cancer. It contains a list of amusement parks!
And January 4, 2017 - Proposition 65 warning requirements have changed!
This brings into play another website...more clicking...over a pair of
shoes. Maybe I need Dorothy's ruby shoes?!! Do-Huh?!! I'll just
skip the shoes. There were four pairs of shoes with this warning.
Concerning the El Paso and the Oregon Historic District shootings:
"To every person who called 911, every person who answered that 911
call, every rescue personnel respondent, every police officer, every
witness at the scene, every individual who gave aid and comfort, every
individual and organization who gave aid and prayers - Thank you!!!
It is unimaginable that with all of the media coverage surrounding the
recent shootings...someone would still believe a gun is the answer.
The best is yet to be!!
"Sometimes all you need is for someone to just be there, even if they
can't solve your problems. Just knowing there is someone who cares can
make all the difference." - sun.gazing.com MONA
