Greetings, Gals!! For you lovers of the materials that need "special care"...this column is for you! Keep reaching....Keep stretching. It's all before you!!

20 Ways You're Ruining Your Clothes Without Realizing It - BESTLIFE - Morgan Greenwald
The average American spends approximately $1,803 a year on apparel and related services. The average American throws out 81 pounds of clothing a year.

1)You store your leather goods near a window: Leather likes the
sun as much as Dracula does. Too much exposure to direct
sunlight and your leather goods get "premature aging"..discolor-
ation, drying, and cracking. Don't hang them in a sunny window
or over a heating vent to dry either.

2)You leave your gym clothes in your gym bag for hours after
your workout: Never let your damp gym clothes sit in a wad in
your gym bag. Moisture is the enemy. Not only does this create
a rancid smell, it is a recipe for bacteria and mildew. In humid
environments, keep clothing somewhere clean, dark, and cool.

3)You don't stuff your handbags before storing them: Storing your
handbags flat is the quickest way to ruin them. Stuff them to the
brim with t.shirts or other clothing before storing them.

4)You stuff your clothes in the drawers: Incorrect storage can ruin
your clothing. Stuffed drawers are chaos at dressing time and
materials like leather will get creases impossible to eliminate.

5)You don't cook with an apron: Take the extra time to put on an
apron. They are designed to shield your clothes from oil, grease,
and sauce that tend to spatter.

6)You use hot water for every load of laundry: Not every load of
laundry warrants hot water...which is likely to shrink and fade
items faster. Hot water should only be used for heavily soiled
or odorous items made from strong fibers like linen, cotton, and
    synthetics like polyester.

7)You hang items that should be folded: Hanging big, bulky
sweaters will only stretch them and create indentations in
the shoulders. Store these in drawers or on closet shelves.

8)You don't zipper things before you throw them in the wash: Left
undone, zippers get caught in delicate fabrics like lace and ruin
them. Pieces of clothing are likely to get caught on hooks and
    clasps.

9)And you don't Velcro them: Velcro is just as dangerous as
zippers. Make sure all of the Velcro on both sides is adhered
    to one another.

10)You haphazardly throw detergent into the washing machine: If
you use too little or too much detergent, it still poses a problem.
Too little detergent leaves the whites not as white and too much
detergent renders the rinse insufficient, leaving you with a
    residue on your clothing.

11)You use fabric softener on your workout clothes: This breaks
down the elasticity in stretchy fabrics like nylon and spandex.
It also breaks down the barrier in these specialized materials
which wicks the moisture from you.

12)You dry your workout gear in the dryer: Dryer heat can ruin
technical fabrics and cause them to change shape. Air dry
    sports bras and spandex leggings.

13)You don't check your pockets before you throw things in the
laundry: Avoid ink run off and soggy paper which can ruin
    your washer. Check your pockets.

14)You let stains sit: The longer you let a stain sit, the harder it is
to remove. Wash the stain immediately to avoid a permanent
    mark.

15)You use wire hangers: These can rust your clothing or stretch
    out fabrics.

16)You don't take care of loose threads: Never pull or snip a
loose thread. Take it to a professional to be mended.

17)You don't use a lingerie bag for your delicate undergarments:
An inexpensive mesh garment bag will prevent nicks and
tears in your delicates, maintain bra shape, and keep socks
    from getting lost.

18)You overuse your dryer: The dryer is the number one cause
of clothing damage. Higher heat settings will shrink and warp
clothes. Use the lowest setting and air dry when it is possible.

19)You don't read labels: Read the label - it tells you how to
    wash and dry your clothing.

20)You don't flip your jeans inside out before washing them: This
is to preserve the denim's color and appearance as long as
    possible.   Happy wash day, ya'll:)))

The best is yet to be!!
