I Am Appalled!!

Hi, all!!! For you readers that are faint-of-heart...or believe that
the social media sites...in this case, Facebook...are friendly,
well-monitored sites...read no further. As Joe Friday used to say,
"Just the facts, ma'am." And here they are.
Ohio Code 2919.24
A. Terms Used
Child: Includes a child by adoption.
Person: Includes an individual, corporation, business trust,
estate trust, partnership and association.
Whoever: Includes all persons natural and artificial, partners,
principals, agents and employees, and all other public or
private.
B. No person, including a parent, guardian, or other custodian of a child shall do any of the following:
1)Aid, abet, induce, cause, encourage or contribute to a child or a
ward of the juvenile court in becoming an unruly child or a delinquent
child.
2)Act in a way tending to cause a child or a ward of the juvenile court to become an unruly child or a delinquent child.
3)Act in a way that contributes to adjudication of the child as a
delinquent child based on the child's violation of a court order
adjudicating the child as unruly for being an habitual truant.
C. Whoever violates this section is guilty of contributing to the
unruliness or delinquency of a child, a misdemeanor of the first
degree. Each day of violation of this section is a separate offense.
United States Obscenity Law
Under FCC rules and federal law, radio stations and over-the-air
television channels cannot air obscene material at any time and cannot
air indecent material between 6 am and 10 pm; language or
material that, in context, depicts or describes in terms patently
offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the
broadcast medium sexual or excretory organs or activities.
I refer you readers to my original warning at the start of this column. Ready? Here we go.
The whole conversation got started on Facebook by a woman saying men
needed to be "responsible" when a woman gets pregnant by him. Women are
tired of being the only responsible one. A guy responded with a comment
about "effing" and it's just a carnal act. WHAT? He says it's a "man
thing" - the woman needs to do something if there's a "problem."
Another woman asked when the sex act became a "his fault/her fault"
issue since this particular "tango" requires two people. The guy
responds with: "Animals like to "eff"...it's a carnal act. Man is an
animal so..man likes to "eff."...what's the problem?" This is some
convoluted logic!! A problem here is that this guy might be a minor
himself. Or, he might be in prison and it's not mandatory that inmates
state they are incarcerated.
Facebook is supposed to have a ruling body and people who are employees
of Facebook, who monitor what is posted. There is a "Facebook Jail."
Most offenses result in a 30 day suspension and you are blocked from
perusing Facebook for that time. Why the above conversation was ever
allowed to be posted is beyond me. This guy spelled out the "eff" word
in it's entirety. This reminds me of the time my sister was watching
"Tootsie" on the original antenna tv. Dad walks in and looks at the
television. He asks her what she is watching. She tells him "Tootsie"
and she has waited 10 years to see it. Dad says it looks like she needs
to wait another 10 years and he turns off the television Where's
the "Facebook Dad?"
Why am I writing this? If you found any of the above offensive - in any degree - be advised:
You are not required to prove your age to become a member of Facebook.
If any of you readers are offended: Your child, your grandchild, your
nephew, your niece, the kiddie next door, the kiddie for whom you
babysit, or the person who babysits your kiddies....could be exposing
them to the above conversation...or conversations like it..
Do not assume anything on the internet is safe or monitored.
By the way, reread the above laws governing this cited conversation.
Facebook and any one working for Facebook could actually be sued over
this one.
And remember: Anyone can sue anyone else for any reason.
Remember the kiddies and our service people. Take good care
