Should
PSU accept a bowl bid?
By George Starks
With
Penn State out of the hunt for a
Rose Bowl bid, should the Nittany Lions accept any bowl bids?
If
the Lions were to accept an invite
to the Car Care Bowl or even the Gator Bowl, would it be right?
With
nearly five weeks being held to
the scandal presented by Defensive Coordinator Jerry Sandusky and the
firing of
head coach Joe Paterno, should Penn State be allowed to accept?
I
say yes.
I,
for one, believe that the kids are
being punished for the actions of others and this is wrong.
What’s
sad is the NCAA will probably
step in and stop Penn State from going anywhere. As we all know, the
actions of
one affect the many and the NCAA will probaby follow suite on that.
It’s
sad that the seniors will miss
out because of this and I think it’s wrong. That is life and the
‘World’ says
it will be this way!
I
also believe the university needs to
get its act together. I don’t believe the firing of Paterno solved the
problem.
My
solution is to allow the university
to play in whatever game it gets invited to but will get none of the
money that
particular game will generate.
Instead,
the money that Penn State
would recieve from the revenues should be donated to an abused
children’s
charity and the university will be made to foot the bill that would be
needed
to be paid for lodging and meals.
This
way, the seniors will get their
day in the sun and won’t have to pay for the actions of one mental case
named
Sandusky.
Many
people will disagree with me over this
one, I’m sure.
