Wave reserves get mat
time
By George Starks
GREENVILLE- The Greenville junior varsity wrestlers got the Wave
wrestling season started off Thursday. With seven schools in
attendance, everone got at least two matches on the night and some
three.
Tyler Tilly went 2-0 on the night while Alex Vanhoose finished 1-1 and
were the only two Wave mat men to score victories.
“It was a good experience for our young guys who have never wrestled,”
said Greenville wrestling coach John Shutts. “That first meet is such a
learning experience as far as how a match is run by the official, and
what each wrestler needs to work on. One thing I think the majority
learned tonight is that they need to push themselves harder during
conditioning and get in better shape.”
Eight Wave reserves got that much needed experience. Collin Jennings
(120) was the only Wave to get three matches.
The Greenville Invitational will kick off today at 9:30 am.
Individual Results:
120 - Collin Jennings (0-3)
126 - Tyler Tilley (2-0)
132 - Andrew Godwin (0-2)
138 - Bryce Lacey (0-2)
145 - Tim Harless (0-2)
145 - Alex Vanhoose (1-1)
152 - Marvin Muller (0-2)
195 - Justin Westfall (0-2)
