I just don’t get it

The site for the Versailles-Coldwater game Friday night has been
determined.
The regional game will be played at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Friday
night starting at 7:30. Welcome Stadium is nice and a great place to
play a football game, but... In a day and age when everyone is trying
to make every penny count, why is this game going to go to Dayton’s
Welcome Stadium?
Economically, it would have made more sense to put this game, between
two MAC powerhouses, at a neutral site that both schools could have
dealt with and it would have made it easier for the fans.
What many of us don’t know and few of us do, is that New Bremen put in
a bid for a playoff game. What a great place for two teams from the
same conference to play at.
New Bremen is between the two schools and big enough to handle the
crowd, not to mention a MAC school. A field both teams are familiar
with.
Why should both schools be forced to travel that distance, when a short
bus trip would save everyone a few dollars in the long run.
I realize the OSHAA will help with the expenses, or they should anyway
but still, the Tigers will make a 45 minute trip while Coldwater’s
travel time will be at least and hour or more. To New Bremen it’s about
20 minutes for both schools.
With fuel prices still going through the roof, doesn’t it make sense to
play this game at a place that requires less time on a bus, less fuel
for the buses and less wear and tear on those buses?
What am I missing here? What is the reasoning behind the decision? Can
someone fill me in?
In all the years I’ve been in this business, I’ve seen the OHSAA as
well as the ISHAA (Indiana) make some really smart decisions as well as
some not so smart ones.
In my opinion, this is a not so smart one.
Sorry folks, I just don’t get it!
