Bradford closes out
season with win
By Don Selanders
BRADFORD - On the final night of High School Football, Bradford chose
to send their Seniors off in a winning style.
Seniors Dylan Canan, Austin Sell, Riley Hart, Johnathan Barbee, Andrew
Stewart, Chris Clark, Alisha Patty, Brittney Allison, Chelsey
Broughman, Krista Floyd, Haleigh Harmon, Madi Dunlevy, Cameron Harmon,
and Sophie Lavey participated in their last High School football game
as Bradford Railroaders.
Bradford stumbled out of the gate and struggled to find any offense
until late into the 1st half.
Twin Valley South on the other hand found its way into the end zone in
the 1st quarter giving them a 6-0 lead with 1:44 left.
The Bradford defense held South to a field goal on their next
possession, but South capitalized on a Bradford fumble to score again
with 1:26 left in the half giving them a 15-0 lead and Bradford
scratching their heads.
The Railroaders found a spark when Dylan Canan took the kickoff and
returned it to the TVS 20 yard line.
Barbee later scored on a 2 yard plunge to open Bradford’s scoring for
the evening and closing the gap at the half-time break. 15-6.
Coach Enis and his staff took advantage of the half time break and gave
the Railroaders the momentum they were looking for.
Corey Rench took the kick off for the Railroaders and returned it 10
yards to begin the Bradford scoring attack. Seven plays into the drive
James Canan scored on a 30 yard touchdown scamper to bring the
Railroaders closer with the score being 15-12.
The Roaders defense turned in up a notch with their Senior leadership
and forced South into a 4th down and 68 yards.
After forcing the punt, the Railroaders put together a drive, however,
it was stalled and the defense was called upon again and the defense
did not disappoint, forcing a fumble recovered by Barbee to end the 3rd
quarter.
Bradford’s offense opened the 4th quarter with a quick strike to the
end zone by James Canan to give the Railroaders their first lead of the
game. 19-15.
The Roaders defense kept the momentum by forcing a quick 3 and out
situation. The punt was received and the Railroader offense moved the
ball on a 12 play drive ending with another James Canan touchdown.
Score 26-15.
With the game coming to a close the defense again showed their
confidence and held South to another 3 and out situation.
On the Railroaders last possession of the night, Bradford’s drive
stalled but converted a field goal ending the scoring for the game and
giving the Railroaders a 29-15 victory to end the season.
Bradford ended its season with a 5-5 record.
