PITSBURG - It was a night when the Franklin Monroe Jets were ready and
Tri-Village wasn’t.
Senior Zac Diceanu scored twice while Brian Robison and Jaden Horner
added one goal each as the Jets posted a hard fought 4-1 victory over
visiting Tri-Village Thursday.
“It was our defense,” said Jets coach Danny Diceanu. “We stopped just
about every ball when they were on offense. I was a little disappointed
they scored on us though. I‘m sure he was happy with the fact his team
(TV) scored but I‘m disappointed that we gave that goal up.”
At the 33:31 point of the opening half, it was Robison who got the game
winner, sneaking a shot past Patriot goalie, senior Aaron Tuck. Tuck
attempted to stop the ball from getting in but the kick was deflected
by another Patriots player. Tuck, went down and the ball rolled in for
the score.
“Tuck took a beating out there tonight,” Fraylick admitted. “He’s
really been coming through for us.
“This is a very good Franklin Monroe team,” said Patriots coach Matt
Fraylick. “The front line they have is exceptional with the Horner kid.
We hung in there with them. We never gave up.”
Diceanu would get his first goal of the night with 16:32 remaining in
the first half, sending the Jets into the break with a 2-0 lead. He
would strike again with 35:25 left in the game as Horner would round
out the scoring four minutes later, giving the Jets a 4-0 lead.
Tri-Village would get its lone score at 26:18 off the foot of junior
Ludwig Tiemann.
“I was happy that we scored on them,” said Fraylick “Bethel and FM are
probably ranked in the top five in the Miami Valley. We have a lot of
first year players and I’m happy with the way we played.”
Even in winning, Diceanu knows there is room for improvement for his
team.
“We have some big games coming up,” said the Jets coach. “We played
well tonight but we have to play better. The kids know what’s on the
line and we have to be ready. It was a nice win for us and Tri-Village
played us hard. They always do. This is a big rivalry and both teams
want it. We came out ready to play and we need to be ready every game.”
Franklin Monroe, 6-2, will tangle with Greenview today at 3 p.m. at
Crew Stadium in Columbus while the Patriots, 6-2-1, will hook up with
Bethel next Friday at home in a scheduled 5:30 start.
