Tough Week for Darke
County Prep Football
Versailles wins as other schools post losses on road trips
Submitted by George Starks
Bradford 20 - Bethel 27
The second week of high school football saw all county teams on road.
The most hyped game of the night pitted Bradford at Bethel.
It was a year ago that the Bees invaded Roader Nation. On that night,
with just 11 seconds left on the clock, Bethel punched the ball in from
four yards out, to post a 48-40 win. That loss dropped the Bradford
record to 5-5, knocking them out of the state playoffs, something
Bradford hasn’t been a part of since 1982.
Coming off a 28-0 win a week ago, the Railroaders and coach Curtis
Enis, wanted to go 2-0 and get a little payback at Bethel High School.
It wasn’t to be as Bethel held on for a 27-20 victory.
The D-VI leading rusher, Jonathon Barbee of Bradford, was held to 86
yards on 19 carries with 55 of those yards coming on a scoring run in
the second quarter.
Bradford, 1-1, 0-1 CCC, will host National Trail next Friday.
Greenville 3 - Tipp City 6
The Wave traveled to Tipp City and a showdown with the Red-Devils. In
the past, Tipp has owned Greenville on the field and the ownership
continued Friday.
In addition to playing great defense, the Wave had a huge chance to
pull off the win.
On the ensuing kick off, after a 40 yard made field goal by Tipp, the
Wave returned the ball all the way to the Red-Devils 26-yard line. With
scant time remaining, Greenville would eventually run out of time.
Jacob Clarke took a shot at a 39 yard field-goal for the tie, only to
see the ball go left.
Greenville, 0-2, will host Findlay in week 3.
Other county scores:
Covington 58, Mississinawa Valley 0
Tri-County North 40, Arcanum 6
Miami East 31, Ansonia 6
Versailles 48, Graham 20.
Week 3 schedule:

National Trail @ Bradford
Versailles @ Ft. Recovery
Miami East @ Arcanum
