Despite early season woes, the Greenville Lady Wave softball team is in
the top 10 in the D-II polls.
In the first poll of the 2012 season, the Wave received 41 points in
the statewide poll and a state ranking of sixth.
LaGrange Keystone was first with 93 points and four first place votes.
Poland Seminary had 58 points and four first-place votes with River
Valley coming in third with 56 points and one first-place vote.
Woodridge got 47 points and Licking Valley, 46 points. Greenville is
ranked ahead of Granville, 34 points, Warren Local, 27 points, Kenton
Ridge, 27 points and Ben Logan, 26 points, all in the top 10.

Greenville swept GWOC rival Trotwood Rams winning both Monday and
Tuesday games. The Wave won Monday in Trotwood, beating the Rams 19-4.
They once again handled the Rams at home Tuesday by a score of 25-3.
Greenville will host Versailles Thursday in a 5 p.m. start and will
host Centerville Friday.
The Versailles Tigers pounded Marion Local Tuesday, 13-2. Ethan Bruns
pitched six innings for the Tigers, allowing six hits, one walk and
fanning 10. Both runs were earned. On offense, Bruns was 3/3 at the
plate with three knocked in. Also, Dominic Richard had four hits in
four trips with the runs batted in. Lee Kindell and Aaron McNeilan had
big hits in the Tigers victory. Versailles will visit Greenville
tonight.
The Arcanum baseball team shut down Ansonia while making solid contact
all game to beat the Tigers 15-0 in a five-inning run rule game Tuesday.
Arcanum scored five runs in the first inning and 10 in the third for
the run-rule victory.
The Trojans will visit Bethel tonight while the Tigers will hook up
with Bradford.
The sixth ranked Lady Wave popped Trotwood-Madison Tuesday 12-0 after
handing the Rams a 18-2 pounding Monday.
Greenville will host Versailles Friday and will welcome Piqua in on
Monday before visiting the Lady Indians on Tuesday for key GWOC North
games, all starting at 5 p.m.
A four-run third inning led the Ansonia softball team past
Arcanum in a Cross County Conference game Tuesday evening.
While the teams had the same number of hits in the game, Ansonia put
together a big rally that was enough to take down Arcanum.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Bradford tonight for a CCC contest with
the Lady Roaders. Arcanum will head to Bethel tonight for a game with
the Bees.
