Arcanum falls
at Trail
One bad quarter the
difference

NEW PARIS- Despite losing 57-36 to National Trail, the Arcanum Lady
Trojans played three solid quarters of basketball Thursday in their
Cross County Conference game with the Lady Blazers.
But basketball consists of four quarters that requires consistency on
both ends of the floor.
Arcanum coach Rachel Fearon didn’t get that team effort in the second
frame against Trail.
In fact, on offense, she got nothing as Trail outscored Arcanum 18-0 in
the frame to take a 10-9 first quarter lead to a dominating 28-9 lead
at the break.
Losing by 21 points, it was one quarter that made the difference.
“My girls played hard in the second half. They never gave up,” said
Fearon. “I told the girls at halftime that we have to come to a game
ready to play four quarters. If we’re here for four quarters then we’re
in the game. It was the whole team in the second quarter but we have to
keep forging ahead and start playing four quarters. If we play four
quarters the way we played in the first, third and fourth, then we see
what happens in the end.”
Down by a mere point at the end of the opening eight minutes, the
Trojans scored their last point in the frame with 45.6 seconds
remaining when freshman Abby Ross, giving the Trojans a slim 9-8
advantage.
From that point, the Trojans went scoreless until the 5:14 mark of the
third.
Arcanum, 1-4, will take on Versailles today.
