Pete
Rose Jr. named manager of Great Falls
rookie team
Pete
Rose Jr. will manage the Great Falls
Voyagers, the advance rookie affiliate of the Chicago White Sox,
according to
multiple media outlets.
Rose
will be joined by returning coaches Brian
Drahman as pitching coach, Charlie Poe as hitting coach, and Kevin
Pillifant as
the trainer.
New
to the staff will be George Timke as
strength and conditioning coach.
Rose,
43, had been the manager of the Bristol
White Sox for the past two seasons.
Nick
Capra enters his second season as the
White Sox director of player development, and Kirk Champion will serve
as the
organization’s field coordinator for the second consecutive season.
The
Voyagers made the playoffs in 2012 but were
eliminated by Missoula, 2-1, in the best-of-three semifinal round of
the
Pioneer League Playoffs.
The
Voyagers will open their season June 20th
against the Billings Mustangs on the road and will return home on June
22nd to
face the Missoula Osprey.
In
January, Tom Groeschen reported that Rose
Jr. indicated that he wants to manage in the Majors.
Rose
Jr., who recently turned 43, managed the
rookie Bristol club in the Chicago White Sox organization for the past
two
seasons.
