NEW MADISON- It took Tri-Village just eight minutes to accomplish what
it couldn’t do in 24 minutes Friday night against Franklin Monroe. The
Patriots scored 30 points in the opening quarter to take a commanding
30-6 lead over the visiting Northridge Polar Bears.
Tyler Cook jump-started the Patriots with 15 first quarter points. Cook
abused Northridge in the paint who had no answer on how to defend the
big man.
Tri-Village continued to roll in the second period…but stumbled a few
times with turnovers. Sophomore Colton Linkous gave the PATS a shot in
the arm from the bench scoring 9 straight points, including the last 4
in the first quarter and the first 5 in the second period.
Kyle Pipenger dropped 11 points in the half as Tri-Village led 47-16 at
the half.
T-V almost duplicated their first quarter performance scoring 29 team
points on the strength of their outside shooting as Shade Brubaker
heated up connecting on four treys in the frame. The Patriots scored
inside and outside, and the Polar Bears could not stop them or match
them offensively trailing 76-28 at the end of the 3rd frame.
In the final stanza Northridge was finally able get some offense
flowing to squeak out a 21-20 advantage…but it was too little too late
as Tri-Village rolled to a 96-49 non-conference win.
“We did what most good teams do after a sub-par performance the night
before", stated Coach Josh Sagester. "We responded by coming out
focused and played well. As a team we shot it extremely good to get the
win.” .
The Patriots posted four players in double figures. Kyle Pipenger had
25, Tyler Cook 22, Shade Brubaker 16 and Colton Linkous 15.
In J-V action the boys made a late come from behind run to beat
Northridge 43-42. Damion Cook led the way with 24 points.
Tri-Village is back in action next Friday for Homecoming with the
Bradford Railroaders coming to town.
