V-Tigers remain
undefeated in duels

VERSAILLES- The Versailles wresling team remained undefeated, 7-0, in
duels Tuesday, beating Indian Lake 39-27.
Indian Lake came in wanting nothing more than to upend the Tigers in
The Jungle but the Lakers would fall short in the end after winning the
opening two matches.
"We knew they were going to be pretty tough," said Versailles coach
A.J. Bey after the match. "They've had some kids that have wrestled in
this line-up for two or three years now. We had a couple of kids
missing but I really don't think it would have made a difference. We
had some seniors step up for us tonight."
With the first three matches being decided by decision, the Tigers
started to get things together, starting with Matt Mangen at 132 when
he pinned Tim Lawson at the 3:45 mark of the match.
Seth Barga won by forfeit, giving Versailles a 15-6 advantage.
The Tigers would go on to win five of the final nine matches, three by
pinfall.
"We got off slow but we have some young kids in there but once we get
to the middle of the line-up, we have some solid kids in there," Bey
pointed out. "We have some really hard workers in the middle of the
line-up and you can tell we're in better shape than they were. We out
worked them toward the third period in close matches and we got some
majors and pins that really worked out for us. Indian Lake has a great
tradition up there (Logan County)."
Saturday, Versailles will host the annual Tiger duels with Arcanum,
Covington, Celina, Urbana, Lehman, West Liberty and National Trail as
well as the host Tigers.
Action is set to begin at 10 a.m.
