Valley inducts four into Hall of Fame

UNION CITY- Mississinawa Valley recently held it Hall of Fame night.
Inducted into the 2012 class were Todd Grow, Cheryl Stachler
Klosterman, Derrick Woodbury and Chris Heitcamp. Heitcamp was not on
hand for the ceremonies.
The following are the bios for each inductee.
Todd Grow - Todd was a member of the class of 1996. He participated in
football and basketball. He was a 4 year letter winner in football. He
earned honors as a CCC first team player in 1994 and 1995, He led the
team with most tackles in 1994 with 106 solo tackles and 29 assist
tackles, in 1995 he let the team with 93 solo tackles and 31 assists,
and also led the team with 7 sacks. Todd was most valuable player, best
defensive back, and best offensive lineman in 1995, which led to him
being “Ironman of the Year” in 1995. Todd was also a two year letter
winner in basketball. He earned the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches
Association Gold Award. He played an essential role in the 94-95 team
that won a district championship and the 95-96 team that was district
runner up.
Cheryl Stachler Klosterman - Cheryl was a member of the class of 1988.
She excelled in basketball at MV and was a member of the CCC first team
in 87-88 and third team in 86-87. She was a member of the Disstrict 9
All-Star team in 87-88. Cheryl had career points of 653 which ranks her
10th in school history. She scorred 327 points in the 87-88 season,
which ranks 4th in school history for most points scored in a season,
and she averaged 14.9 points per game in that same year which ranks 5th
all time for average points in a season. She holds school records for
most rebounds in one game (22) and most rebounds in a season (232) both
in 87-88.
Derrick Woodbury - Derrick was a member of the class of 1996. He was
the “floor general” for the Blackhawk basketball team in 94-95 and
95-96. He helped lead those two teams to back to back sectional
championships and one district title. He scored 708 total points in his
career which ranks 17th overall for most points in a career. He also
scored 383 points in 95-96 which ranks 11th overall for most points in
a season. He averaged 16.7 points per game in 95-96 which ranks 17th
overall for average points in a season. He holds the school record for
most assists in a game (12) and at one point he held the record for
most three pointers in a game (7). In 95-96 he was named to the CCC
first team, all county 1st team, special mention southwest district,
and was a member of the District 9 all-star team.
Chris Heitkamp - Chris was a member of the class of 1990. He was a two
sport athlete during his time at MV. Heitcamp was named to the CCC
second team in 89-90 and CCC honorable mention in 88-89 in basketball.
He was a member of the District 9 all-star team in 89-90. Chris scored
a total of 680 career points which ranks 20th all time. He scored 340
points in the 89-90 season which ranks 22nd all time. Chris was also a
member of the football team. He was named to the CCC honorable mention
team in 1988 and 1987. He holds school recoreds for longest run from
scrimmage for a touchdown, 94 yards vs Union City in 1987, most punts
in a season (32), most punts in a career (58), longest punt in a game
(68 yards) and punting average in a game of 58 yards. Chris was also
named the Knights of Columbus male athlete of the year in 1990.
