Edwards sets
new mark for Wave wrestling
EATON- Jon Edwards became Greenville’s first 4-time Sectional Champion
this past weekend at the Eaton Sectional Wrestling Tournament.
Jon Edwards has 161 Career Wins. That places him 76th on the OHSAA
Record Board. There are only 8 wrestlers from the Dayton area who have
ever had more wins in their career than Jon, according to the OHSAA
Record Board.
Edwards has a Senior Record of 39-1, which is the 8th best in
Greenville history, passing the following individuals this weekend:
Matt Proudfoot (39-5), Matt Guillozet (38-3), Aaron Warner (38-11),
Justin Fletcher (37-8) and John Hiller (37-8).
Edwards has 566 Career Takedowns. That breaks Greenville’s record of
564 which Jeremy DePoy had from (02-05). Those 566 Takedowns rank Jon
37th on the OHSAA record board.
There are only 4 wrestlers from the Dayton area who have ever had more
takedowns in their career than Jon, according to the OHSAA record board.
Edwards is now 3rd for takedowns in a Season with 230 for Greenville.
He passes Evan Warner who had 223 in 2010. Those 230 takedowns ranks
Jon 48th on the OHSAA record board. There are only 9 wrestlers from the
Dayton area who have ever had more takedowns in their career than Jon
(2 being from Greenville), according to the OHSAA record board.
Edwards has 56 Career Technical Falls. That breaks Greenville’s record
of 55 which Jeremy DePoy had from (02-05).
Edwards is tied for 4th for Technical Falls In A Season with 19 for the
Wave. He is tied with Selo Ramjattan who had 19 in 2010 and passes
Jeremy DePoy who had 18 in 2004.
Greenville also finished 8th at the Eaton Sectionals this past weekend.
Placing for the Wave were:
Edwards-1st, Nelson Roberts-2nd, Sam Quigney-5th, Nick Woodruff-5th,
and Nick Livingston-5th.
Jon & Nelson will compete at the Goshen District next weekend.
Also, Greenville finished the year ranked 9th in the GMVWA Coaches
Poll. That continues a streak of 9 years that Greenville has finished
in the Top 10 of the poll.
