two to state competition
Greenville finished 17th at the District Tournament this past
weekend. Placing for the Wave were: Jon Edwards-1st and Nelson
Roberts-3rd. Both wrestlers will be competing at the State
Tournament next week in Columbus.
Edwards became Greenville’s 6th District Champion. Others who
were district champs were: Jack Pequignot – 1974, Matt Guillozet
– 1991, Jerrod DePoy – 2000, Josh Shilt – 1994, Jeremy DePoy – 1995.
Edwards has 235 Takedowns In A Season. Those 235 Takedowns ranks
Jon 39th on the OHSAA Record Board. There are only 6 wrestlers
from the Dayton area who have ever had more takedowns in their career
than Jon (2 being from Greenville), according to the OHSAA Record Board.
Edwards has 165 Career Wins. That places him 56th on the OHSAA
Record Board. There are only 8 wrestlers from the Dayton area who
have ever had more wins in their career than Jon, according to the
OHSAA Record Board.
Edwards is tied for 4th for Wins In A Season with 43. He is tied
with Jeremy DePoy who had 43 in 2004 and 2005.
Edwards is 3rd for Best Senior Record at 43-1. He passes the
following: Jeremy DePoy (43-3), Josh Shilt (41-5), Daniel Edwards
(41-12), Levi Harris (41-12), and Nick Hiller (40-5).
