Tiger Varsity
Boys Bowlers Remain in 1st Place
After
bowling another double shift, with each match consisting of two regular
games
and two baker games, against the St.
Henry Redskins and the Mississinawa Valley
Blackhawks at Varsity Lanes
in St. Marys on Saturday, January 14, the Versailles Boys Varsity
Bowling team
is still undefeated, bringing their record to 11-0.
Versailles
hit the lanes to battle the St. Henry Redskins at 10 a.m. The oil pattern that was
put down for the day
was the Kegel Broadway pattern. The oil ratio between the center of the
lane to
the gutter was not more than a 5-1 ratio. Basically, this means that
better
shots had to be made throughout the day. The higher the ratio of oil
from the
center of the lane to the gutter, the easier it is to hit the pocket.
St. Henry
was the only team to beat Versailles last year, so they were looking to
repeat
last year’s victory. Versailles outscored St. Henry in the first two
games with
scores of 826 to 757 and 950 to 844.
The Tigers won the first baker game 165 to
149, but the Redskins fought
back to win the second baker 171 to 167.
Versailles won the match by 187 pins with a
total of 2,108 to St.
Henry’s 1,921. The
Tigers were led in
game one by Ben Didier with a 193 and Kyle Bohman with a 187. Versailles was led in game
two by Ben Didier
with a 250 and Brandon Groff with a 209.
After a
quick break, the Tigers were back on the lanes to take on the
Mississinawa
Valley Blackhawks at 1 p.m. Versailles
came out on top in the first two games with scores of 918 to 625 and
894 to
680. Versailles
also won the two baker
games with scores of 163 to 117 and 204 to 178, thus winning the match
by 579
pins with totals of 2,179 for the Tigers and 1,600 for the Blackhawks. Versailles was led in game
one by Michael
Davidson and Kyle Bohman, both rolling a 203, and Aaron Niekamp with a
202. In game two
Versailles was led by
Michael Davidson with a 217 and Jordan Groff with a 190.
The Tigers
take a road trip to Ottawa Highland Lanes in Ottawa on Saturday,
January 21, to
take on the Parkway Panthers at 10 a.m.
