things tough in Troy
Submitted January 12, 2012
TROY- The
Wave traveled to the Troy Bowl last night to take on defending 2011
state
champions, Troy Trojans. While the Wave bowled well, it was near
perfect
bowling that defeated the Wave boys at the Troy Bowl, 2095-2636
Sophomore
Trever Mann rolled games of 211-202 for a 413 series, and Senior Seth
Hart
rolled a 211-190 with a 401.
“The boys
bowled very well last night and I am very happy with that. They were
able to
keep it together against a very good team,” said Wave coach Tony Baker.
“Sophomore, Austin Weimer had his hands full with senior Jared Sierra
of Troy.
Sierra shot 299 against him, leaving a 10 pin on the last ball.”
Freshman
Korey Garland was battling it out with another Trojan. Senior Kyle
Neves of
Troy, rolled the first 8 strikes against Korey leading to a 268 game.
“I am very
proud of Austin and Korey for grinding it out and not giving up,” Baker
stated.
“It is tough to watch someone keep throwing strikes at you. They both
showed a
lot of maturity to hang in there, not give up and stay positive.”
Sierra also
rolled a 300 game on December 29th against Beavercreek.
Sophomore
Trever Mann improves his team leading average to 190.3 in the GWOC and
Freshman
Korey Garland improves to 179.5.
The Lady
Wave shot season High 1778 against the Lady Trojans, but fell short as
the
Trojans rolled a 2310.
Sophomore
Shelby Shumaker rolled a 208-155 for a 363 series. Sophomore Natalie
Blinn
rolled a 153-161 for a 314 and Junior Shanelle Smith rolled a 164.
“The ladies
scores were very consistent from top to bottom,” Baker pointed out.
They bowled
very well against a tough troy Team.”
Junior
Lizzie Hart continues to lead the Lady Wave with a 161.9 average with
Sophomore
Shelby Shumaker in tow at 147.9
Both
wave teams fall to 1-1 in the GWOC
North, 3-11 in the GWOC and 4-11 on the season. The Wave hosted 0-14
Piqua
Indians and 7-7 Lady Indians Wednesday at 4:00 at Treaty Lanes in
Greenville.
Friday, the Wave will be in action at Arcanum Friday with Tri-Village.
