DAYTON – Franklin Monroe graduate Jaden Horner was recently
awarded a schoaorship from the OHSAA as one of the state’s top scholar
athletes.
Horner was recognized at the Marriott along with several others from
the state in June, representing the southwest district.
Horner was a four-year starter for the Jets’ soccer program and was
awarded as all-league (four years), all-district (three years) and
all-state (two years).
During his three years as a starter for the basketball team, Horner
helped lead the Jets to a district championship and regional runner up.
The scholarship winners were selected by each of the six OHSAA district
athletic boards.

Power team
coming to Greenville
GREENVILLE - The message is one of inspiration.
The well reknowned Power team will be coming to Greenville’s Memorial
Hall, July 19-21, bringing the message of Christ through acts of brute
strength.
The Trinity Wesleyan Church and Fields of Grace Worship Center are
co-hosting the event, which takes place at Memorial Hall on July 19-21.
The Power Team consists of a team of athletes who perform exhibitions
of power, strength, speed, inspiration and motivation. The team has
toured internationally for more than 30 years. Exhibitions include
snapping baseball bats, lifting telephone poles, ripping phone books
and smashing walls of ice and concrete, all in the name of positive
inspiration.
Each show features motivational speakers and promotes audience members
to live to their full potential. The Power Team is for all ages, from
young children to older adults, so Trinity Wesleyan and Fields of Grace
invite the whole family to come.
Nick Paulus, Associate Pastor Trinity Wesleyan, hopes the event will
draw in crowds from all over the area. Paulus has been personally
contacting powerlifting teams and football coaches to encourage them to
attend the event.
The three-day event will feature new exhibitions each night and will be
free to the audiences due to contributions from local business.
The Power Team encourages people to live a life of excellence and
challenges them to be the best they can be. Over the course of 20
years, the Power Team has performed in more than 26,000 school
assemblies and is ranked as one of the top school assemblies in the
nation.
The Power Team calls upon methods used by churches, corporations,
cities and organizations to reach their communities with powerful,
life-changing messages of hope and inspiration.
GTI I thumps
Sidney
PIQUA- GTI I took it to Sidney in the Varsity Acme baseball
tournament, pounding the Jackets 11-1Thursday, in a run-rule situation,
doing it in five innings.
The Greenville based team unloaded nine runs on Sidney in the opening
frame and never looked back.
GTI’s Cole Ward singled onto first, advanced from Quenton Wood’s hit,
stole third and reached home on an overthrow. Devin Wood hit a RBI
single to send his brother in.
At that point, the rout was on.
