Chevrolet Performance Fastrak a National Points Race

ROSSBURG– With Saturday’s (June 30) Chevrolet Performance event for FASTRAK Pro Late Models being designated by series officials as a National points race, drivers from throughout the eastern third of the nation are expected to compete for the $5,000 top prize. Completing Saturday’s tripleheader program will be the UMP DIRTcar Modifieds and Eldora Stock Cars; followed by a gigantic fireworks display to kick-off the Independence Day week.

Based out of Carnesville, GA, the FASTRAK Racing Series was developed in conjunction with Chevrolet Performance to make use of factory sealed engines produced by Chevrolet. That movement has helped to reduce the costs of Late Model racing and has evened the playing field. By doing so, it has rejuvenated the division, with many new teams coming on board and dozens of speedways joining the fold as FASTRAK sanctioned facilities.

It is from these speedways that Saturday’s field will be drawn, as the drivers chase for valuable National points and the thrill of winning at the historic Eldora speed plant. Four previous events have spread the winning laurels throughout the Midwest. Indiana’s Steve Barnett won the inaugural event in 2007, followed in successive years by Ed Dixon from Missouri, Shannon Buckingham from Tennessee and in 2010 by Pennsylvania’s Mike Pegher. The race was not held last season.

Grouped time trials, qualifying heat races and a last-chance B-Feature will determine the starting grid for the Chevrolet Performance sponsored 40-lap main event.

For the Modified and Stock Car divisions, it will be a points night towards the season championship. Joey Kramer (UMP DIRTcar Modifieds) and Barney Craig (Eldora Stock Car) are the current point leaders going into the event.

The Chevrolet Performance night will conclude a busy month of full-bodied racing at Eldora, that included the Feed The Children Prelude to the Dream and Dirt Late Model Dream presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers. It swings open the doors to July and a rich open-wheeled month featuring the 29th annual Kings Royal weekend for World of Outlaws Sprint Cars (July 13 & 14), offering $50,000 to the victor and the NAPA Auto Parts Summer Shootout for USAC Sprint Cars (July 28) with a $10,000 winner’s payoff up for grabs.

Ticket information, including online purchasing, may be found atwww.EldoraSpeedway.com or by calling the track office at (937) 338-3815.
