Boys Soccer wraps up season in finals
The DC
Galaxy U12 Boys soccer team of the local Dark County Soccer Association
(DCSA)
capped their splendid and fun season with making the Finals in the
Creek
Classic Soccer Tournament the weekend of June 2nd & 3rd.
In
addition, while developing teamwork, skill building, and great
sportsmanship,
the DC Galaxy won the spring 2012 MVYSA (Miami Valley Youth Soccer
Association)
League Championship barely edging out an excellent Englewood Gunner
team and a
very good Springboro team.
The weekend
of May 19th and 20th, this persevering team made the Finals of the Troy
Strawberry Soccer Tournament with a highlighted game with a Worthington
Columbus Crew Jr. team in which the Galaxy rallied with two goals in
the final
four minutes.
As with
their league season, the Galaxy rallied from deficits in many close
games to
pull out great wins or ties and kept their parents and other supporters
on the
edge of their chairs or resigned a few to pace. The great positive
support of
the parents and the display of excellent sportsmanship by players was a
pleasure for the coaches and commented on by many referees and opposing
team’s
coaches and parents during the course of the season.
There were
a total of six boys and girls soccer teams representing the DCSA
playing in the
MVYSA this spring and last fall: the DC Explosion-Boys U10 Coach Shane
Stackler, the DC Strikers-Girls U10 Coach Todd Pressnall, the DC
Dynamos-Boys
U11 Coaches Emily Saylor and Aaron Brown , the DC Galaxy-Boys U12
Coaches
Branson Pyles and
Dustin Leis, the DC
United-Girls U14 Coaches Steve Shepard and Matt Baker, and the DC
Crew-Boys U14
Coaches Mark Coppess (Director Of DCSA Coaching), Dave Ernst, and Terry
Morris.
Great fun
and learning during the development of fundamental skills and teamwork
were
experienced by the girls and boys of the DCSA along with awesome
uniforms and
cool local travel opportunities.
