Lady Patriots enjoy some house painting

Community spirit comes out...
By George Starks

Amy Farmer: “Our house looks AWESOME!!!”

NEW MADISON-  The Tri-Village Lady Patriots are gearing up for their state title run Thursday in Columbus and got the celebrating started on Sunday after the Patriots unloaded a 69-48 loss on Ft. Loramie Saturday.

Sunday, the community spirit was in full swing as one rsidence, the Farmer home, was redecorated. The team was allowed to come to the home and do a little team house painting.

The spray painting party was something that was promised to the girls a year ago.

“We told them a year ago if they won state we would let them spraypaint our house,” said Amy Farmer in an e-mail sent to CNO. “We were planning to put siding on anyway. A year later and with only half the siding completed, we thought they deserved to go ahead with it after their phenomenal win against Ft. Loramie Saturday night.

“Our house looks AWESOME!!!” Farmer added.

Granted, the Patriots have not won the state yet, as the red, white and blue clad team from Tri-Village needs two more wins to accomplish that goal.

With the victory, some much needed donations have hit the Patriots’ pocketbook.

“We had a $50 donation from the salon Hairy Decisions in New Paris, and with that donation, the owner of The Snack Shop in New Madison agreed to make as many pizzas as we needed to feed those who showed up to our “Paint the Town Patriots” party,” Farmer said. “A couple other folks brought chips, desserts, plates and napkins and we had ourselves a regular block party, planned in just a few hours.”

The Patriots are just two games away from winning it all with Berlin Highland standing in their way right now.

Not since the 1990-91 season has Tri-Village had a team make it to the state level. In that season, the Patriots entered the sectionals with a 20-0 record and was the AP state number one team. Tri-Village lost to St. Henry that year in the title game after winning the state semi-final game in what was then declared to be an upset.

Tri-Village had fallen to the Redskins two straight years in the regional finals. The third year was the charm for the Patriots.
