Sectionals resume tonight with Lady Tigers

DARKE COUNTY- Nine Darke County teams will be looking for sectional
titles in baseball and softball this week.
All games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
Tonight, the Versailles Lady Tigers will get things underway when they
face off against West-Liberty Salem in the D-III sectional. In the
Tigers sectional opener, Versailles topped Northeastern 10-0, then
eliminated Milton-Union 9-1 to reach the final game against the WLS
Tigers.
Tuesday night is a loaded night for area teams.
In the D-II sectionals, Greenville will head to Tecumseh to battle
Springfield Shawnee. The Wave squeaked out a victoy Thursday, beating
Tecumseh 2-1 at Stebbins Field. Also on Tuesday in D-IV competition,
Ansonia will hook up with Covington at Tipp City, Bradford will tangle
with riverside at Russia and Tr-Village will battle Newton at Bethel.
Ansonia reached the sectional final with a 5-1 win over Houston
Thursday while the Lady Railroaders run-ruled Troy Christian 14-0.
Tri-Village beat Middletown Christian by that same score of 14-0.
In baseball action on Wednesday at the D-III level, Versailles and
Miami East will hook up for the second time this season. The Vikings
have proven to be a thorn in the side of the Tigers. Last year, Miami
East eliminated Versailles in the tournament and beat the Tigers in the
regular season this year.
In the Tigers second round game against Northridge, Versailles won out
11-1 over the Polar Bears.
Also on Wednesday, in D-IV action, Arcanum and Tri-Village will lock up
for the third time this year, this time at Covington.
Last week, the Patriots beat Bradford 17-7 while the Trojans handled
Ansonia 13-0.
Thursday, Greenville will do battle with Tipp City in the D-II
sectional finals at Tecumseh. Greenville had little trouble with Ben
Logan on Friday, winning 8-0.
