Girls hoops resume tonight
Boys to start Friday
DARKE COUNTY- With six county teams kicking off the 2012-13 girls
basketball season, a full slate of game will highlight the docket
tonight around Darke County and Ohio.
Over the past weekend, Versailles won the OVISCO Classic in Celina,
topping the host Lady Bulldogs 54-53, to start the season at 2-0. The
Tigers topped Wayne in the tournament opener Friday, 51-42.
Tonight, the Lady Tigers will travel to Tipp City to take on the Red
Devils (6 p.m.) and will once again travel on Saturday to Covington for
a noon tip.
Also, the Tri-Village Patriots (2-0) will look to remain perfect as
they host Newton tonight in a CCC clash and will battle National Trail
Saturday in a boys/girls twin bill on the Patriots home floor, The
Battleground.
The Patriots successfully defended their Bill Burkett title Saturday, popping Franklin Monroe in the title game 76-34.
The Jets (1-1) will play host to Bethel tonight while Arcanum (1-1)
will entertain Miami East. Arcanum will not play again until December 6
at National Trail.
Ansonia (0-2) will welcome in Mississinawa Valley for the Lady Hawks
season opener. The Tigers will play Saturday at St. Henry while
Mississinawa Valley will not play again until the 6th when they host
Bethel in its home opener.
Bradford will play its season opener at The Depot with Covington and
will be idle Saturday and will be in action again on December 6 at
Miami East.
Greenville (0-2) played at Miamisburg Wednesday and will host Xenia Saturday at starting at 1 p.m.
The Wave participated in the OVISCO Classic with Versailles, dropping a
57-50 decision to Wayne in overtime. Celina defeated Greenville in the
tournament opener, 65-22.
