Marion Local
holds off St. Henry
WAPAKANETA- Sophomore Jacy Gottenmoller ran for 157 yards on 20 carries
and crossed the end zone twice Friday as Marion outlasted St. Henry
28-21.
Marion Local will take on McComb High School in the state semi-finals
to be played Friday. The site has yet to be determined by the
OHSAA.
The defending state D-VI state champions will head to the semi-finals
next week.
If successful, the Flyers will get the winner of the Magodore-Newark
Catholic contest.
Coldwater
knocks Covington out of post season
DAYTON- The Coldwater Cavaliers took the next step to a state football
title Saturday, thumping Covington 20-0.
Coldwater has lost three straight title games and will have to get by
Findley Liberty Benton in the state semi-finals. Liberty Benton edged
out Patrick Henry 22-21 Saturday to advance.
As for Covington, the MAC has been a thorn in the side of the Buccs.
Since 2003, Covington has faced a MAC team on six different occasions
and lost all six games. Three of those losses were to Marion Local (03,
06 and 09), once to Delphos, 56-13, (2005) and Coldwater twice in 2011
and 2012.
If the Cavs get past Liberty Benton, they will get the winner of the
Kirtland-Baltimore Liberty-Union game.
NOTE- Sites will be determined by the OHSAA and will be posted on the
CNO website when received.
