Patriots primed
to get back to glory days
By George Starks
NEW MADISON- Rarely can anyone talk about a boys and a girls team from
the same school that may have enough of what it takes to make it to
state.
Tri-Village is the exception in the 2012-13 season.
The Lady Patriots made their first appearance in Columbus last season
and was eliminated in the semi-final game.
Gone from that team is one of the best the state had to offer in Kayla
Linkous, now at Cedarville.
Linkous averaged double digits in scoring and rebounds but the Patriots
return the whole team from a year ago minus Linkous.
With the likes of Teah Richards, Liz Collins, Echo Brown and a host of
others, the Patriots should be a force to be dealt with in the Cross
County Conference.
The boys, like the girls, lost a big presence in Evan Barger, now at
Edison State but with big names like Pipenger, Cook, Brubaker and
Warner, Tri-Village could be very well playing a week later behind the
girls in Columbus.
Rarely can one school boast of have stat caliber basketball teams but
Tri-Village may very well have two of the best in the state.
The Lady Patriots march back to state starts November 23 in the Bill
Burket Tournament. On that night, T-V will take on Ansonia while the FM
Lady Jets will tangle with Racheal Ferron's Arcanum Lady Trojans in the
opener, with the action starting at 6:00 p.m.
The Tri-Village boys, district runners-up a year ago to west Liberty
Salem, will open their season at home with Mississinawa Valley on
November 30 at 6:30. The following night, the Patriots will welcome
National Trail in a girls/boys double header. The Patriot girls junior
varsity will get things underway at 3p.m.

The
Tri-Village Lady Patriots win once again look to cut down the nets and
return to Columbus.
Led by Teah Richards, The Patriots, minus Kayla Linkous, have a solid
shot at getting back to
state playoff action.
