Soccer players
take center stage in September

DARKE COUNTY- Greenville's Sam Bowers and Franklin Monroe's Allyson
Manning have been leaders on their respective soccer teams.
Bowers, a senior, is the keeper for the Wave.
At the end of September, Bowers had recorded 84 saves this season.
Despite the Wave being 2-11 this year, Bowers has been rock solid at
his position and a leader for the team.
"Sam works hard and sets a great example for the rest of the team,"
said Wave coach Brent DeVoss. "He keeps this team in games and give us
a chance to win. When you are able to stay in games and have chances to
win, the confidence of the team grows. Sam keeps us in those games and
because of the, the team does gain some much needed confidence."
At Franklin Monroe, Manning, a junior for the Lady Jets, is a big part
of the Jets success.
In September, Manning recorded several goals, including a hat trick (3
goals scored) earlier in the month that helped preserve a Franklin
Monroe victory.
To date, Manning has recorded 16 goals and four assists.
"Allyson is one of the hardest working kids I have ever coached," said
FM coach Scott Howell. "She plays every second to the best of her
ability and goes after every ball that is close to her. She hustles and
is a big reason we are a winning team."
