Bradford set for post season
Roaders win
season finale
By George Starks
WEST ALEXANDRIA- On the final night of the 2012 football season, it was
only fitting that Bradford would go out on a winning note. Bradford
posted a 30-20 victory over Twin Valley South Friday to finish the
regular season at 8-2.
After the host Panthers struck for a 55 yard score, it took a little
time before Bradford could get the offense into gear.
Despite getting off to a sluggish start, Bradford coach Curtis Enis was
not worried.
“Once we figured out what they were trying to do to us and what we
could do to them, we were fine. Once we got that going, we were
fortunate enough to do what we wanted to do."
The Roaders finally got in the scoring column when quarterback Randon
Wysong hit his receiver, Dallas Cassle for a 47 yard strike.
On the Roaders next possession, Bradford was able to put together a
drive that would eventually end with a one yard quarterback sneak by
Wysong and Bradford would gain control of the scoreboard.
Bradford would score 30 unanswered points after the Panthers initial
score before the Panthers would put 14 more on the board.
South would go 30 yards for its final score off a bad snap from center
on a punt play that cleared the punter, giving South its final
possession of the game.
With the last game of the season comes a possible look into the future
and the Roaders season went well past a win in the season finale.
It wasn't just another football game.
"We've had a great season and again, the kids wanted to finish what
they started," Enis stated. "I knew when I took the job here that this
bunch was something special. They were hungry for success and they have
experienced that. These kids have a passion for the game and they've
proved it over the past three years. It's very rewarding to have a
group that can do the things this bunch has done."
Now with the 8-2 record comes the wait as Bradford will soon find out
who and where it will play.
In other games from around the county, Versailles dropped it's third
straight game Friday night, The season that had so much promise ended
with a 17-14 loss at St. Henry. Versailles finished the season with a
5-5 mark.
Mississinawa Valley ended the 2012 campaign at 0-10 with a 43-0 loss to
Bethel while Greenville finishes at 1-9, with a 38-0 drubbing at the
hands of Sidney. Arcanum took it on the chin, losing to Covington,
45-13 to go 3-7 overall under TJ Powers in his first year at the helm
of the Trojans. Ansonia dropped to 1-9 with a 55-14 loss to Tri County
North.
