a play that would have changed the outcome of the game, Versailles
wide receiver Damian Richard

play. If it would have been ruled catch, Versailles pulls out a huge

Loss to Minster ends all hope
By George Starks
VERSAILLES- It was a game that was all or nothing for Versailles Friday
night at H.B. Hole Field.
The Tigers came in with a 5-3 record and a needed a win over Minster if
they were to even think about a playoff spot in the post season.
Leading 14-0 in the second quarter, the Tigers couldn't hold that lead
as Minster scored 20 unanswered points to post a 20-14 victory over
Versailles in a huge MAC contest.
It was a game that did not go without controversy.
On a key play as the Tigers were driving in the first half, Versailles
junior quarterback Nick Campbell hit Damian Richard in the end zone for
what seemed to be a touchdown play.
Richard was ruled out of bounds.
While no coach will ever say the root cause of a loss is pinned on a
bad call, the Tigers had more than their share of chances to put points
on the board.
Leading 14-7 at the break, the Tigers first shot came at the start of
the third frame.
Minster took control of the ball to start the second half but that
possession was cut short when Damian Richard picked off Minster QB Adam
Niemeyer.
With the Tigers taking control of the ball, Versailles could only
muster three plays before being forced to punt.
It was also a tale of two halves for Versailles.
In the first half, the Tigers rolled up 252 yards of offense, 101
through the air and 150 on the ground.
In the second half, the Versailles offense came to a grinding halt as
the Tigers could manage a mere 44 yards of offense.
Now 5-4 overall, the Tigers will look to finish the 2012 season with a
victory on the road at St. Henry.
