TC North too much for Arcanum
By Levi Wicker
ARCANUM - Tri-County North had as close of a perfect first half as any
team could possibly have as they scored eight touchdowns on seven
possessions en route to a 56-0 halftime lead before the reserves took
over for them in the second half.
Tri County North left Arcanum with a smile on their face posting a
56-13 Cross County Conference victory.
The Trojans opened the game looking good with an 11 yard bruising run
by Senior tailback Parker Buhrman. But with little explosive plays, and
an engulfing defense that sacked senior quarterback Dallas Johnson four
of eight times in the first half, there was little resilience from
Arcanum all night having four turnovers on ten first half possessions,
including a 20 yard crowd shuttering fumble recover for a touchdown by
freshman linebacker Garrett Woodyard. It was just that kind of night.
Tri County North junior quarterback Austin Hutchins went six for nine
in the passing department in the first half for 165 yards and five
touchdowns, completing two of them to senior tailback Billy Derringer
and senior receiver Darrin Jackson, along with a ten yard pass to
senior running back JJ Macpherson.
Austin Hutchins had nice footwork in the pocket all night eluding a
starving Arcanum defense that was clawing at every opportunity they had
to make a big play, but the quarterback was one step ahead of them
sliding, moving, and evading while throwing some very pin point passes
downfield.
Macpherson ran the ball in the first half 11 times for 86 yards and one
rushing touchdown. Arcanum opened the second half with its starters
still in against the Panthers reserves, making a nice drive that lasted
nearly the whole third quarter finishing with a six yard touchdown run
by Buhrman.
Parker finished the night with 75 yards on 14 carries with 52 of those
yards coming in the second half. Some back and forth play between
second teams finished the game along with a very nice 60 yard touchdown
scamper by freshman tailback Jordan Dubbs of Arcanum where he just
outran everyone on the field. North did everything they had to do and
executed their plays as precise as you could ask. Arcanum had a rough
first half, but was able to put together a few nice drives in the
second half giving them something to build off of as well as a good
learning experience for the rest of the season.
