Hurricane Isaac
wipes out Baltes Classic
100 Race Teams Had Converged Upon Eldora With Hopes That the Storm
Would Pass Over
ROSSBURG, OH (Sept. 2) – After a rain-free afternoon, remnants of
Hurricane Isaac filtered in just prior to the scheduled hot lap
sessions Sunday evening to wipe out the Wix Filters Baltes
Classic. A talent-laden pit area of 36 Sunoco American Late Model
Series entrants, 47 UMP DIRTcar Modifieds and 17 Stock Cars jammed the
pit area with hopes that the storms would hold off.
Once the rains did invade the historic speed plant, it wiped out all
chances of competition on the .500-mile clay oval.
The Baltes Classic will not be rescheduled; however, the Stock Car
portion of the event, which was to have concluded their cumulative
point race, will be inked for a later date to be announced by speedway
management.
With the WIX Filters Baltes Classic cancellation, Eldora Speedway
officials have issued the following statement regarding purchased
tickets and pit passes.
