PITSBURG - The Franklin Monroe Lady Jets improved their season Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over Newton in a Cross County Conference showdown.

Winning 25-17 in the opener, things got a little intense in the second game before the jets pulled out a 25-23 victory.

In the third game, Franklin Monroe trailed throughout the first half of the game.

Down 16-13, the Jets were able to gain a 17-16 advantage, holding on for the win.

"We got down early in that third game but we were able to regain the momentum, push back, get the lead and keep it," said FM coach Jody Bauman. "A lot of times when we've been down four or five points, we'd have a let down. Tonight, we didn't do that. The pushed right back through."

In the first game, the Jets took control and maintained it.

After that, the Indians forced the issue.

"The second and third games were back and forth a lot," said Bauman. "We were down four or five points and we've been working on pushing through that and staying in the game mentally. Things are starting to fall into place for us. It does a lot for our confidence to be able to make that kind of a comeback. We have to be mentally tough in all games from now on."

Tonight, the Jets will square off against Scott Brewer and the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks at Mississinawa Valley.
