Lady Hawks get third win of the season over
Ansonia

ANSONIA- To beat the same team twice in the same season isn't an easy
task. To beat that team three times is next to impossible.
Monday at Ansonia, that's exactly what Mississinawa Valley did to to
the Tigers. In a Cross County Conference match, the Lady Hawks too care
of business in three games, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20.
"Ansonia has improved a lot since we played them the last time," said
MV coach Scott Brewer. "We just didn't stick to our game plan tonight.
We had to work for it the first two games but in the third game, we
just went flat.
Having the Tigers on the ropes in all three games, the Hawks could
never put the Tigers on ice.
That's been our problem all year, not being able to put teams away,"
quipped Brewer. "We let teams hang around and it comes back to bite us.
If you can't put teams away, you're not going to win."
In the third loss of the season to Mississinawa Valley, Ansonia coach
Jason Hemmelgarn admits that it's not an easy feeling.
"Losing to them three times is obviously something you don't want to do
but they are a quality team," said Tiger coach Jason Hemmelgarn.
After losing the first two games, the Lady Tigers dug deep into their
hearts and would make the Hawks struggle.
Trailing from the opening serve, the Tigers were down by as much as
14-6 before going on the prowl.
Despite losing by five in the end, Hemmelgarn was pleased with the
effort and hustle of his kids.
"We got down early and we ended it better than we started," said
Hemmelgarn. "Hopefully, we can go into Arcanum (Tuesday) and play
better. We've seen them once. My kids are hungry. I was happy to see
them not quit and stay together."
Mississinawa Valley was led on the floor by Hope Neargarder with 11
kills, 10 assists and seven digs.
Victoria Humphries added 15 assists in support with Madison Livingston
recording five kills, Maddie Murphy seven digs and Heather Dirksen five
digs.
