Lave Wave netters stay hot
By George Starks

GREENVILLE - The Greenville girls tennis team continued to roll this week with two big GWOC North victories.

Monday, the Wave took it to Wayne, sweeping the Warriors 5-0. Tuesday, Greenville duplicated that feat against Piqua.

In both matches, all Wave players rolled to straight set wins making Greenville 11-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.

Tonight, Greenville will host Springfield (4:30 p.m.)  and Xenia on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.

Both Springfield and Xenia are tough opponents but it's just what the Wave need according to coach Jim Koontz.

"We have no more cupcakes on our schedule," said Koontz in a phone interview. "Both Springfield and Xenia are very good and with Butler coming up, we need that stiff competition."

Currently, both Navas-Davis sisters are 11-1 while Michelle Borgerding remains undefeated at 12-0.

Greenville will travel to Vandalia to face the only other team in the GWOC North that remains undefeated.

"Last year, we beat Butler 3-2 and I really don't think it will be any different this year," Koontz said. "The winner of that match will win the conference."

That match is slated to start at 4:30 on Tuesday.
