Fan involvement at Eldora Family
Fun Night
ROSSBURG,
OH (August 6) – While action on Eldora’s fabled
.500-mile clay oval is the attraction, Saturday’s (August 10) Family
Fun Night
focuses upon fan and driver involvement in a relaxed atmosphere. For the UMP
DIRTcar Modified and Eldora
Stock Car drivers, their chase towards the 2013 Eldora championship
title will
continue; for the fans, it will be an opportunity to mingle with, and
greet,
the drivers during an extensive pre-race autograph session. And for the
kids, there will be inflatable
bounces, balloon twisting clowns and a massive post-race fireworks
display.
On
the race track, it will be Jerry Bowersock (UMP DIRTcar
Modified) and Barney Craig (Eldora Stock Cars) hoping to expand upon
their
current stronghold of first place in the cumulative points race, as
they thwart
off all challengers.
Bowersock,
who tasted divisional championship honors in 2008 and
2012 is clinging on to a slim ten point lead over young Aaron Orr; who
in turn
has a 5 point advantage over Ryan Sutter.
The tightness continues through the top
five as Jon Henry holds down
fourth, four points behind Sutter, while Brian Post sits only two
points behind
Henry.
Meanwhile
in the Stock Car ranks, Craig holds on to an 18-point
lead in hopes of defending his 2012 Eldora title. He
previously captured championships in 1992,
1993 and 1999. Behind
him, only nine
points separate the four drivers that complete the top five. Earnie Woodard
comes into Family Fun Night
with a three point advantage over Jeremy Creech; while five points
behind him
sits Shawn Phillippi with a one-point margin over Paul Pardo.

CONTINUATION
OF MODIFIED PARITY COULD ESTABLISH RECORD
ROSSBURG,
OH (August 6) – Thus far into the 2013 racing season for
UMP DIRTcar Modifieds at Eldora Speedway there have been five completed
A-Feature events with that many different winners.
Only once in the 23-year history of that
division competing on Eldora’s famed .500-mile clay oval, 1996, has
that fete
been completed. A
fresh face in victory
lane during Saturday night’s (August 10) Family Fun Night action could
establish a new mark.
Brian
Post kicked off this season’s winning trend, followed in
successive events by Jon Henry, Jerry Bowersock, Brian Ruhlman and Ryan
Sutter. The wins
for Post and Sutter marked their
first-ever Modified triumphs, as they pushed the number of winning
drivers to
60 among the 237 features contested to date.
CRY
IN STOCK CAR DIVISION IS ‘STOP BARNEY CRAIG’
ROSSBURG,
OH (August 6) – Barney Craig captured three Eldora
Speedway Stock Car titles during the 90’s decade (1992, 1993, 1999),
but then
entered a mammoth drought that found him absent from the legendary
Eldora
podium until last season when he garnered yet another title.
That
momentum carried over into this year, where the seasoned
veteran has amassed a remarkable five victories in the six A-features
contested
thus far. Paul
Pardo has been the only
driver to stop Craig.
